Acer launches sustainable notebook in partnership with National Geographic

With a focus on producing more and more sustainable products, Acer presented the Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition notebook at CES 2022, in partnership with the famous channel focused on nature-related topics. The product has recyclable material construction, reusable packaging and internal components with easy replacement and replacement.

The structural components present in the notebook's chassis have 30% post-consumer recycled plastics (PCR), which helps to reduce emissions in factories by up to 21%, according to information released by the brand. In addition, the edges around the screen also have 30% PCR, while the keyboard buttons bring a ratio of approximately 50%.

Acer also stated that the product brings "materials carefully selected for their balance between durability, rigidity and visual", in which the gray color receives a contrast of yellow, to give more personality to the notebook. On the top cover, the Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition still has details that represent topographical lines, indicating the damage that global warming can cause with the rise in ocean levels.

The notebook case is made up of up to 85% recycled paper — according to Acer's indications, it can become a decorative element, or even a support to place the device at a more favorable angle for typing. Other components that come with the product in the box include a protective pouch made of 100% industrial recycled plastic (PIR), and a shield that sits between the keyboard and the screen, also with 100% PIR.

On the inside, the spec list is led by an 11th generation Intel Core i7 processor, together with an Intel Iris graphics card — even if it doesn't have the most up-to-date chip on the market, Acer says it's possible to do creative work and collaboration with high levels of comfort. The components of the Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition can only be accessed with the most basic tools, as the parts are fixed with standardized screws, instead of adhering substances that can be harmful to the environment.

The construction of the notebook also has two USB-A ports, one USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet and 3.5 mm port for headphones or auxiliary cable. It comes with Windows 11 factory installed, and the VeroSense app is available to help save battery life, with Eco+, Eco, Balanced and Performance modes.

The Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition will be available in the Chinese market in January, with a suggested price of 5,499 yuan (about R$ 4,895 in direct conversion). Acer said it will be sold "in multiple countries across Asia-Pacific", and will still arrive in Europe in March – the brand did not give information about the possibility of purchase in other markets.
