São Paulo Futebol Clube (SPFC) announced the Bitso exchange as an official sponsor this Friday. During the press conference, the club also revealed a series of news, including the possibility of purchasing tickets with Bitcoin (BTC).
Bitso was initially announced as a new sponsor in December, but details had not been revealed. Now, everything has been revealed in detail, as found by CriptoFácil.
“Bitso will revolutionize relations with our fans, with a strong currency, and the ecosystem of São Paulo. We celebrate”, declared Júlio Casares, president of SPFC.
The exchange will stamp your brand on the sleeve of the tricolor uniform. The values of the agreement will not be disclosed, but it is speculated that it will be around R$ 40.5 million for three seasons. In absolute terms, it would be the best sponsorship for the São Paulo shirt sleeve to date.
First, the SPFC has a goal of making BTC an accepted means of payment within the services provided at the Morumbi stadium. The measure is provided for in one of the clauses of the contract between the club and the exchange.
According to Toni, the forecast is that payments in cryptocurrencies are already available for the games of the 2022 Campeonato Paulista.
Exchange promotes a series of actions
Present at the press conference were Eduardo Toni, SPFC Marketing Director, and Beatriz Oliveira, Bitso's Head of Brand. Both disclosed a series of actions that will be promoted during the partnership between the institutions.
In addition to accepting BTC, Bitso will name the blue sector of the Morumbi stadium. This location is in the central region of the field and faces the area that appears on the television broadcast. It is, therefore, a strategic location that will increase the company's brand exposure.
Another clause gives the exchange the right to exploit a box inside the stadium. The team will also hold a friendly tournament once a year. This tournament will feature the presence of the tricolor from São Paulo and three other teams from South America, with the sponsorship of Bitso.
“Morumbi will be the first stadium in the world to accept payment for admission through cryptocurrencies. This is a return to our origins, our DNA of innovation. In addition to tickets, Morumbi's services will soon be able to be paid for in cryptocurrencies,” said Toni.
In this sense, the marketing director was asked about the possibility of the stadium receiving the name Bitso, through a naming rights strategy. Toni stated that, at first, the test will be carried out in the blue sector, but he did not rule out the possibility of an agreement for the entire stadium.
As reported by CriptoFácil , the sponsorship with Bitso was revealed for the first time in December. The team from São Paulo also released its fan token ($SPFC), which was released in December.
