A Muslim family has been killed in a truck attack in Canada, according to reports. The father was found dead outside the vehicle and it is believed the mother and three children were killed when they became trapped inside as well. Police said that there are "no apparent links" with terrorist groups but their investigation continues.
In a horrific and premeditated attack on Sunday, four members of a Muslim family were killed. The youngest member still alive is nine years old and in the hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by a Canadian man 20-year-old who has been charged with murder for killing adults aged between 19 to 60+. This was the worst incident against Muslims since six people died at the Quebec City mosque 4 years ago.
Two women - aged 74 and 44-years old, a 46-year-old man and a 15-year old girl were all killed. They have not been named in accordance with the wishes of their family but are expected to be soon according to police reports. A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized for serious non life-threatening injuries which he sustained during an attack by Nathanial Veltman,20 who has ties with no hate groups as far as authorities know at this time says Det Supt Waight - according to BBC News.
Hate and Islamophobia have NO place in Ontario. Justice must be served for the horrific act of hatred that took place in London, Ontario yesterday.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends during this difficult time. These heinous acts of violence must stop.

The black truck was seen mounting the kerb on Hyde Park Road at around 20:40 local time. The weather and visibility were good when this took place, according to officials who spoke with CTV News. One witness said she had to shield her young daughter's eyes from the bodies as they passed by; another told reporters that it looked like "just chaos" following what is suspected of being a terrorist attack – people everywhere and running for their lives."
"This was an act of mass murder, perpetrated against Muslims, against Londoners, and rooted in unspeakable hatred," said Mayor Ed Holder.
We grieve for the family whose three generations are now deceased.
The statement went on to say that "London is a city where people from all faiths make valuable contributions".
The mayor's statement, which was released today about the attack in London on Wednesday night that killed four people and injured another 48, confirmed he had ordered flags outside City Hall to be lowered for three days of mourning.
The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) also made a statement today regarding this incident where they urged authorities not to label it as terrorism since all facts are still unknown at present time. They said, "a man allegedly got into his car saw a Muslim family walking down the street and believed they did not deserve life."
It's not the first time members of the Muslim community in Canada have come under attack. It seems like it happens more and more often these days, which is unfortunate because Muslims are just as Canadian as anyone else!
